Smart Home with Luxury Audio Design and Multiple Units
We initially met Rob and his partner Micky when they purchased their first Bang & Olufsen system with us for their Long Beach home. A shared love of sound and vintage B&O speakers turned into a lasting relationship. So, when the time came to build their dream beach home, they brought us in to handle their network system, distributed audio, architectural surround sound, and automation of lighting, shades, drapery, and temperature.
The centerpiece challenge was seamlessly incorporating Rob's personal Bang & Olufsen speaker collection — dating back to the early '90s — alongside new in-ceiling speakers by Theory Audio, Theory outdoor audio, and beautiful Bang & Olufsen TV's, soundbars, and wireless speakers throughout the home.
We designed and installed a commercial-grade network system built to handle the unique demands of the property, which includes three rental units. Using enterprise-grade equipment with separate VLANs, each unit shares a single internet connection while remaining completely isolated from the others — privacy by design.
For automation, we programmed the BeoLiving Intelligence platform as the single app controlling audio and lighting throughout the home. The simplicity of one app, minimal hardware, and no licensing fees made for a very happy client, especially when comparing the cost against Crestron, Control4, Savant, and similar systems. Every speaker was hardwired and carefully tuned so that multiple brands — both vintage and new — perform as one cohesive system.
